A common problem that occurs in practice is welding aluminum using the mig mag process./p>
It is primarily important that the device has the ability to weld aluminum and a slightly higher power. The next very important thing besides adjusting the parameters for welding is the preparation of the device. If that part is not done well, the welding process itself will not be possible and the frequency of errors will be high. After selecting the wire and installing the reel, it is necessary to put on new wheels of the wire feeder and a new inlet. The wire drive wheels must be adapted to the aluminum wire. Every machine manufacturer has wheels for driving aluminum wire in their range. After that, some more adjustments are needed due to the frequent occurrence of stalls and jerks that cause problems during welding. When replacing the grommet, it would be good to use a plastic one, because it allows the wire to slide smoothly. It is necessary to use Teflon or carbon wire guides. When using such guides, it is possible to slide the wire much easier without stopping than with spiral conductors. It is also necessary that the guide be long enough (avoid a gap between the conductor and the nozzle), because otherwise the wire may often jam. Aluminum nozzles should be used to allow the wire to be fed smoothly to the electric arc. They differ from nozzles for steel by a slightly larger gap between the wire and the nozzle, i.e. a larger diameter of the hole on the nozzle.
After satisfying all the above conditions, attention should be paid to the gas we use for the protective atmosphere. It is best to use argon.
